Terms of Service

The conditions that apply when you read and use Monochromer, explained plainly and without legal fog.

Last updated: September 2026

1. Acceptance of the Terms

By visiting monochromer.cyou and reading any page published under the Monochromer name, you agree to the terms set out below. If you do not agree with them, the appropriate response is simply to stop using the site. These terms apply to every visitor regardless of how they arrived here, whether through a search engine, a shared link, or a bookmark left over from a previous visit. Because the site changes over time as new material is added, we ask that you treat continued use as continued acceptance of whatever version of these terms is current at the time.

2. Who May Use the Site

Monochromer is intended for a general adult audience with an interest in how information processes are modeled and described. There is no registration, account creation, or age-gated content, but the site is not designed for young children and we do not knowingly target them. If you are accessing the site on behalf of an organisation, we assume you have the authority to do so and that your use complies with any internal policies that might apply to you.

3. Permitted and Prohibited Use

You are welcome to read, share links to, cite, and reference the material on this site for personal, educational, or professional learning purposes. What is not permitted is any attempt to disrupt the site's operation, extract its content at scale through automated scraping for republication, misrepresent material from the site as your own original work, or use the site in a way that could damage its infrastructure or reputation. We also ask that you do not attempt to reverse the site's underlying code for purposes other than ordinary, incidental browser functions like caching.

  • Do not attempt unauthorised access to any part of the site's infrastructure.
  • Do not use automated tools to copy the site's content wholesale.
  • Do not present Monochromer's explanations as bespoke advice tailored to a specific person or situation.
  • Do not use the site to distribute unlawful, defamatory, or harmful material of your own.

4. Intellectual Property

The text, illustrations, diagrams, and structure of Monochromer are the property of the site's operator or its licensors, except where a source is separately credited. The layout, wording, and specific examples used to describe modeling situations represent original editorial work. You may quote short passages with attribution and a link back to the relevant page, but wholesale reproduction of articles, in part or in full, without permission is not permitted.

5. User-Submitted Content

Monochromer does not currently operate comment sections, forums, or upload facilities, and the site does not solicit content submissions from visitors. If you contact us by email with a question, correction, or observation, we may use that feedback to improve the site's material, but we will not publish your name or personal details without asking first. Any message you send remains, in substance, your own words, but you grant us permission to read, consider, and act on it as part of ordinary correspondence.

6. Informational Purpose Only and No Professional Advice

Everything published on Monochromer is written for general educational understanding of how information processes are modeled: how collection, processing, storage, and transmission of information can be represented, what assumptions typical models rely on, and where those models tend to break down. None of this material constitutes technical, legal, financial, engineering, or other professional advice specific to your circumstances. Where an article discusses a typical situation or case, it is describing a general pattern for illustrative purposes, not a recommendation for any particular system, product, or course of action. Decisions about real systems should be informed by qualified professionals who understand your specific context, not by a general-audience publication.

7. No Warranties

The site is provided on an as-is, as-available basis. We work to keep the material accurate and up to date, but we make no promise that any page is complete, error-free, or suited to a particular purpose. Concepts in this field evolve, terminology varies between disciplines, and a simplified explanation intended for a general audience will inevitably leave out edge cases. We do not warrant that the site will be available without interruption, that it will be free of technical faults, or that it is compatible with every device or browser configuration. To the fullest extent permitted by law, all warranties, whether express or implied, are excluded.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Monochromer and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of time, or decisions made on the basis of material published here. Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or limit liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Monochromer, its operator, and anyone associated with producing the site's content against any claim, loss, or expense arising from your misuse of the site, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any right of a third party in connection with your use of the site.

10. Links to Third-Party Sites

Some pages on Monochromer may reference or link to external websites for further reading, illustration, or context. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their availability, or their own terms and privacy practices. Where Monochromer earns a small commission from a link that leads to a third-party site and a reader takes a qualifying action there, this is disclosed separately on the Affiliate Disclosure page; such arrangements never influence the substance of what we write, and no article is written to promote a specific commercial product or service. Following an external link is always at your own discretion.

11. Suspension and Termination

Because the site does not require an account, there is nothing to formally terminate for an individual visitor. However, we reserve the right to restrict or block access from particular networks, addresses, or automated agents if we reasonably believe they are being used in a way that violates these terms or threatens the site's normal operation.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or from use of the site will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections that may apply in your own country of residence.

13. Changes to the Terms

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in the site's content, its technical operation, or the law. When we do, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date. Material changes will be made in good faith and with the aim of keeping the terms clear and fair; we encourage you to revisit this page occasionally if you are a regular reader.

14. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to [email protected]. You can also reach us by phone at +44 7700 900094 during our published opening hours, or by post at Unit 22, 3 Kingsway, M4 4ZX Manchester, United Kingdom.
